Then, this other lady at work tried to tell me that Star Wars is for dorks. I just shrugged. "If that's how you feel." And walked away. And for some reason, she felt defeated and we both knew why...IP: Logged |

Hi, gang. I just thought I'd follow up my Sunday slacking. It blew. I got to knock of a couple of posts then I ended up *gasp* working until 1:30am.Pity me. But here I be, and here I slack. I'll just make up for it by spending Labor Day slacking. And, hey, Twi'lek Babe. Nice to see another desert dweller 'round these parts. I guess you could call me a Tatooine (Southside) resident. Does that mean you're in Mos Espa and I'm in Mos Eisley or is it the other way around? Either way, it's pretty flippin' hot outside. IP: Logged |

One of my fellow interns was like that. When she discovered I liked Star Wars, she was aghast. "But you don't look like one of those," she stammered. Sure and steady, Sebulba cup poised in my hand, I casually replied, "looks like something you'll have to get used to...." Silence hung in the air between us. "At least I don't date members of the criminal underworld," I offered. There wasn't much she could say to that. Eventually, I caught her on the Backstreet Boys chat. Everybody has a weakness. I have been slacking at work so much ever since May that I really think they are going to fire me. Does anyone know any good online job searches. I need something that pays at least $50,000 a year and requires no experience, intelligence or work ethic. Good luck with the girl C Creepio. IP: Logged |

Whew, made it thru my first day at work post-vacation, and happy to be back in the slack! I see it was a very slackin' good day.Greetings fellow Tatooine-ites Cydar and Stellar!! Since I don't know where Mos Espa and Mos Eisley were in relationship to each other, I rolled my chance cube and it came up that Mos Espa is in the north and Mos Eisley in the south, so I guess I'm in Mos Espa, Cydar. There's also Anchorhead and Bestine township to consider as well. Let's see...lets make Anchorhead west and Bestine east. So where are you slacking from, Stellar? IP: Logged |

I have an idea ! Hey, it happens, even to me... Here's the thing. On a P(SA) thread, two morons have made a lot of insulting jokes on french people because the thread was more or less related to France. I was absolutely furious when I read that, which is stupid on my part because : - If you begin to let stupidity offend you, you just don't live. - I have made all these beautiful posts on "free speech", so now I just can't get offended because I don't like something somebody wrote, right ? - And the french DO make stupid cheap jokes about other countries too, of course. But I thought of a constructive way to act. We have a rather international bunch of slackers in this thread, don't you agree ? And anyway, America is so vaste and strange (to me, of course, ) that it's a discussion subject on itself. What do you say of I opened a "Let's talk about our respective countries" thread here in Miscellaenous ? We could speak about what we like and don't like in the areas where we live, cultural differences, economy, stereotypes, rumors and reality, stuff like that. Of course, it will be open to the non-slackers too... What do you say ? If you agree, I'll open it tomorrow (I'm still furious now, and anger leads to the dark side.)

Well, the one "american joke" I prefer is not a joke, but a short movie... And I don't think it is really offensive (you'll tell me). There is a sort of "Muppet Show" in France which is called "Les Guignols", it's political only. During the Monica Lewinsky business, Les Guignols filmed one of their greatest movie (IMO, of course)... It's five minutes long... and the actors are puppets. It begins by Clinton, in his office and in a very bad mood, watching a panel of televisions with channels from all around the word (indian, chinese, french, english, italian... and american of course). They are ALL speaking of Monica Lewinsky, the "blue dress" stuff and Kenneth Star. So Clinton, understandably upset, takes his phone and declares war to Irak. He watches, full of hope, the sets of televisions... But they barely mention the news and go on with the Lewinski stuff. So, furious, Clinton declares war to all Asia. Stuff happens, and some of the televisions go blank. But the others go on about Monica Lewinski live confession on TV, so Clinton, now in a bunker (the televisions are still here), declares war to Europe and Russia in one phone call, global nuclear war ensue, and every television (even the americans ones) go blank. Clinton hesitates, alone in his bunker. Then he opens the door and goes outside. Everyone is dead, the sky is red and the earth is now a smoking nuclear waste. You can see the ruins of a big town somewhere in the countryside. Clinton, stricken by guilt and remorse, walks in the destroyed country crying "What have I done ? What have I done ?"... Then he hears a feeble noise, and sees a survivor... The last man alive on earth. The man is lying on the ground, dying, half burned. Clinton bends toward him and says "I'm sorry... Please forgive me... My God, what have I done ?" The man lifts his hand, and says, in a dying voice... "No, it's OK, Mr President... You've done your duty to God and America... (Pause). But... Before I die... Tell me... About Monica Lewinsky..." Clinton looks at him for a moment, then finishes the man off with a violent kick in the head. I loved that !

Well, the one French joke I know is... [drum roll]... their trucking service.[Silence from the crowd] ... Ok... enough with the union jokes. The last time I was in Paris I stayed at a small hotel on the Ile de la Cite called the Henri IV. The rooms were very small, and very cheap. You know if it's still around Sabe? IP: Logged |

Good morning guys. I slacked all day yesterday and STILL scored a "good job." Heheheheh. Little do they know, there is no such thing as a "good job." Sabe, that program sounds a lot like the 80's British show Spitting Image. Slack on! I'm gonna try and hit 400 today. I think I only have ten more. IP: Logged |

Hello Dapper Bloke ! You're back ? That's great ! You know your chat room is a HUGE success... Oh, and Hacienda, that's very possible. Splitting Images has been a huge influence on the Guignols, from what I hear. Senator Binks, no, I don't know if it's still here, but you were lucky it was cheap... Because l'Ile St Louis has become one of the more expensive area in town... IP: Logged |
